To get there you need to book a ticket for the round trip ferry. You get on a ferry boat to the Statue of Liberty and it is the only way you can visit Liberty Island and Ellis Island and the iconic monument. You can book your tickets to take the round trip ferry from either Battery Park in New York or Liberty State Park from New Jersey. The most popular choice is to take the ferry from New York, but the tickets are widely more available from New Jersey. From either side, you will get a spectacular boat ride, a beautiful view of the Statue of Liberty on sea, of the Ellis Island Immigration Museum, and the skyline of both cities.

Ferry to Statue of Liberty from New York

The Battery Park Statue of Liberty ferry is the ideal departure spot from New York and is the most popular choice for visitors that want to go to visit Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Currently known as The Battery, 1 Battery Place, New York, is a 25-acre public park located at the southern tip of Manhattan. You can get there by public and private transportation, and there are parking garages available but it limited. Therefore it is advisable that you prefer public transportation to get there and board the ferry from Manhattan to Statue of Liberty.

Please note that it is important to remember that you are in New York and you need to stay sharp for any suspicious looking people and possible harassers, and always keep your possessions close. If you are coming from Brooklyn, Queens, or Manhattan Island or any other place you can get to Battery Park by bus, subway or train, and these are the following routes you may take:

Bus: M5, M15, M20 stop at South Ferry.
You can also take M15-SBS, SIM1C, SIM3C
Subway: 1, 4, 5, R trains.
Private Transport: Taxi, Car Service

Ferry to Statue of Liberty from New Jersey

The Liberty State Park ferry to Statue of Liberty is the ideal departure spot from New Jersey to visit Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Tickets for the different tour options are usually easier to get from here than from New York. The New Jersey Terminal located at Liberty State Park is near the water by the Central Railroad at 1 Audrey Zapp Drive, Jersey City. If you are going by car, there is parking available for a fee and it is accessible from the road. However, you also have options to get there by public transportation via train and also by ferry. The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail has service all through Jersey City and has a station at Liberty Park nearly 1 mile walk away from the ferry location, and you can transfer to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail at Hoboken or Exchange Place to arrive at your destination.
